Devils Lake Hike
I’ve traveled the world quite a bit in the last two years…searching for peace…searching for me. It’s kind of crazy that have been getting a lot of direction when it comes to life, photography and business as I travel. I think it is something about being out in the wilderness, alone, soaking things in. I kept finding myself looking for hikes that were far away. I hiked around Lost Lake in Portland, on the outskirts of Sydney, Australia, and even a hike that requires insurance papers to hike in Hawaii. I’ve been all over to find myself at one of my favorite spots, Devils Lake, WI. I chose to hike the south face of the Lake that has more rigorous trails. The trail I chose to go up first was the balanced rock trail. It was only .3 miles and suggests that you hik it in about 45 minutes, however I made it up in about 12 minutes. The photos I shot were from the way up, to the top as well as walking down some of the trail that runs along the east coast of the lake. I met a guy on the way up that carried his child up in a back pack style carrier. Talk about life goals. He sounded like he did this regularly though and has no problem getting up. What blows me away is that we have a place like this in Wisconsin. The Devils Lake hike was something spectacular and hands down the best hike I’ve done in Wisconsin so far. It’s conveniently located just outside of Madison in Baraboo. I shoot very regularly in Madison so the location definitely will be hit more than once a year! I never thought something so beautiful was so close to home, I highly suggest the Devils Lake Hike to anyone!
