Upper and Lower Mohawk Lake CO
Upper and Lower Mohawk Lake CO – Boxcar Photography travels worldwide documenting stories. Other times Benjamin is up for a hike. Come see some photos.
The hike started at a trail head… as they always do. The moderate trail walked past a very large pond/grassland as you approach the more intense parts of the hike. In total, the hike is 6.7 miles round trip. The first lake, Lower Mohawk is 2.95 miles from Spruce Creek Trailhead. You can hike an additional half mile to get up to the Upper Mohawk Lake. This would be a good summer and fall hike. I am not sure if this is hikeable in the spring, however I wouldnt doubt it. The initial trialhead is moderate. Not hard at all. Eventually it will get harder as you find yourself hiking up steep switchbacks. There are mining remains, and a waterfall you will be able to stop at on the way up. There are two major steep portions of this hike. The steepest parts are the best times with the beautiful flowers along the side of the hill as well as your view getting increasingly more exciting. Finally when you move your way up to the Upper Mohawk Lake, you will find yourself in a peacful area. Looking almost straight up at the mountain and down at the trail you just paved. All in all, very worth the trip. If you are having a wedding close to Mohawk lake. You will also see some photos of a fox and a small hike that really is great for a bike trail in Breckenridge.
