Waiting for the Storm to Pass

Waiting for the Storm to Pass

Kaitlyn and Lucas were married on May 20th, with a ceremony and reception in the Norskedalen Heritage Center.

I started out with Kaitlyn as she was getting ready in a small cabin. Because it was raining, the ceremony started about an hour late, which gave me the chance to spend plenty of time with these girls and to see their touching, intimate connection. They were so positive and reinforcing and constantly lifting each other up throughout the day. Their attitudes and smiles provided such light, even as the rain fell outside.

The bride was determined that she wanted her ceremony to be outside, so despite the day being rained out, we waited for a clear patch of weather. Kaitlyn’s persistence paid off, and we were able to do the ceremony outside. The stunning lace of Kaitlyn’s amazing gown ended up stained and muddy, but her smile continued to sparkle like the light of the missing sun.

Water continued as a theme of the wedding as Kaitlyn and Lucas included the watering of a tree in their ceremony. The bride and groom made the decorations themselves. They did such a good job! Their attention to detail was impeccable. The whole location was beautifully set with mirrors, frames, pictures and personal touches around the room. Their vision was perfectly realized, and their patience paid off.

Even though we started late, we made up the time later in the evening, and I enjoyed some time with the two of them in the Heritage Center getting portraits of this happily-in-love couple. They are such a laid-back and easygoing pair that it was wonderful to work with them.

Kaitlyn & Lucas, thank you so much for including me in your beautiful wedding. I am so happy that the storm passed and hope that rain on your wedding day does mean you will have good luck in your life together! Your vision for the day as well as your persistence and patience to make sure that vision was realized were absolutely astounding!
